Business With Local Ties Expands Oxford Office

OXFORD, MS - A collection and verification business with numerous clients in the Greenwood area has expanded.

Security Check of Oxford recently celebrated the expansion of its 2612 West Jackson Ave. complex. The business now has 100 employees and operates in 6,400 square feet of office space.

Security Check works to collect money owed businesses from bounced checks.

Among its Greenwood-area clients in the Delta are Scott Petroleum; Gresham Oil, which operates Double Quicks; West Quality Foods, which has Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises; and Lipcomb Oil Co., which has Exxons.

Security Check's expansions is a marked difference from its significantly smaller origins. Two Ole Miss students started the business in their apartment back in 1995, while they were still taking classes.

Its operation now reaches into 14 states and includes 28 joint venture partnerships.

Bad checks make up just one percent of all checks written. Still, that totals 600 million to 700 million bad checks annually, according to the Federal Reserve Bank.
